Kia Ora,
September is off to an exciting start! This week, we had the pleasure of experiencing The Convert, a powerful film by acclaimed New Zealand director Lee Tamahori. Hosted at Shaw Theatres Lido by the New Zealand High Commissioner and the Singapore Film Society, this film offers a vivid glimpse into 1830s New Zealand. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t miss out—it’s a must-watch for film lovers and history enthusiasts alike!
We also joined forces with AustCham for a thought-provoking R U OK? Day panel discussion at ANZ Singapore. The conversation around mental health, authentic leadership, and workplace support was both enlightening and inspiring. A huge thank you to ANZ Singapore and AustCham for the opportunity to collaborate!

'The Convert' movie screening |
| On Tuesday, we had the privilege of attending the preview screening of The Convert, directed by acclaimed New Zealand filmmaker Lee Tamahori, at Shaw Theatres Lido. Hosted by the New Zealand High Commissioner to Singapore, H.E. Gabrielle Rush, and the Singapore Film Society’s Chairman, Kenneth Tan, the evening was a celebration of New Zealand’s rich cultural heritage.
Set in 1830s New Zealand, The Convert tells the gripping story of a lay preacher caught in the middle of a violent conflict between Māori tribes. The film's exploration of faith, identity, and history, paired with stunning cinematography, captivated the audience.
Now screening at Shaw Theatres, The Convert is a must-see for those interested in compelling cinema and New Zealand history. We are grateful to the New Zealand High Commission and the Singapore Film Society for hosting this inspiring event. |

R U OK? Day - Panel Discussion |
| Yesterday morning, the NZ Chamber partnered with AustCham for an impactful panel discussion in recognition of R U OK? Day. Held at ANZ Singapore, the event gathered members of both chambers for an important conversation centered on mental health, connection, and support.
The distinguished panel included Mollie Rogers Jean De Dieu, General Manager of LongChamp SG & MY and founder of Emotional Inclusion in the Workforce, Dr. Munidasa Winslow, a psychiatric expert in addiction and impulse control disorders, and Richard Poulton, a CEO with personal experiences of overcoming anxiety. The discussion, moderated by Purpose Committee Chair Batya Shulman, emphasised the power of authentic leadership and vulnerability in fostering supportive environments, not only in personal circles but also in the workplace.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to ANZ Singapore for hosting this insightful event and to AustCham Singapore for including us in such a meaningful initiative. |
