Vangelis Vitalis

Vangelis Vitalis, Deputy Secretary for Trade and Economic Affairs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, will provide insights on how New Zealand can manage these turbulent times for trade policy internationally. He will discuss what rising protectionism means for New Zealand businesses and the strategy for the way ahead.


Vangelis returned to Wellington in 2017 having been Ambassador to the World Trade Organisation in Geneva since August 2015. In addition to his role as Deputy Secretary, Vangelis was also the Chief Negotiator who led the conclusion of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP).
