The award-winning Modern Māori Quartet (MMQ) are a good looking, suave contemporary Māori showband in the vein of forebears such as the Hi-Marks, Māori Volcanics Showband, Māori Hi-Five, Quin Tikis and The Howard Morrison Quartet.
Accomplished actors/musicians James Tito, Maaka Pohatu, Matariki Whatarau and Francis Kora hail from different corners of Aotearoa to perform as the core members of MMQ.
MMQ brings the concept of a Māori Ratpack into the present with a contemporary twist, weaving their acting and musical abilities together to tell stories, fusing hearty and humorous Māori storytelling with the Western tradition of show-band entertainment.
Back by popular demand, Jayson Norris combines his love of singer-songwriters, indigenous music and all things rock, together with tones, harmonies and melodies that naturally come from his cultural and musical heritage of New Zealand. Creating his distinct sound of acoustic, roots-rock.
Based in London, Jayson performs and works all over the globe. He headlines his own tours and has supported artists such as INXS, Shihad, Blue King Brown, The Blackseeds, Pete Murray, Six60, I Am Giant, Tiki Taane, Breaks Co Op, Katchafire, The Feelers, and Dave Dobbyn to name just a few.
Our musical talent joins us thanks to East West Music & Events, our travel partner Air New Zealand, and our accommodation partner Swissôtel The Stamford, Singapore. Thanks to the artists, sponsors and audience for supporting New Zealand music.
Following on from the success of his 2018 exhibition, photographer Shelton Woolright returns this year with a new collection of works that again will focus on one of his most personal subjects- New Zealand. Woolright has captured objects with amusement, curating an exhibition that celebrates the most vibrant and withstanding icons of popular culture, Kiwiana, commemorating a unique sense of place and time.
Using the dynamic and kitsch energy of Pop Art to compliment the playful objects that weave through our national identity, Woolright's series of new vibrant and contemporary images will celebrate treasured icons of nostalgia, that define a way of life.
Shelton Woolright is a NZ born, London-based creative. He became interested in photography during his teenage years and majored in Photography whilst studying Design at Unitec. Whether in black and white or colour, Woolright's diverse creative compositions touch on urban life and popular culture, in diverse genres, not only through his camera lens but also street art, tattooing and music. His inspirations are sought additionally whilst touring internationally as the drummer for the alternative rock outfits 'I Am Giant', 'Blindspott' and more recently as his new alter ego in his solo drumming project, 'Deadbeat'. He may also be recognised from his role as a judge on the New Zealand version of the international television franchise, 'X Factor'. Woolright has exhibited his photography in Paris, Switzerland, New Zealand and Singapore.
Art Exhibition will be on display at the Foyer of the Swissotel Ballroom, guests will be welcome with his impressive artwork which will be on display for sale.
