NZ Chamber is proud to host a breakfast dialogue with Helen Clark - 37th Prime Minister of New Zealand from 1999 to 2008, first elected female Prime Minister of New Zealand, and the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme from 2009 to 2017.
In 2018, New Zealand celebrated the 125th anniversary of women winning the right to vote. It was no subtle coincidence that on this same year the country also saw its third female Prime Minister become the second ever world leader become a mother while in office. For a small country at the far corner of the globe, the pioneering accomplishments of our female leaders is one of our most well known claims to fame - thanks in no small part to Helen Clark and her formidable nine years and three terms as leader of the country.
Famously, Helen did not retire from office with a view to enjoy a comfortable and quiet private life, instead, she continued moving onward and upward, taking a top position at the UN as Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, where she was again able to use her position to strengthen the pathways of women in leadership and increase the representation of women's voices and well-being on a world stage.
Helen will be joined in conversation by Clare Wilson, Regional Director East Asia, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise. The discussion will draw from Helen's new book 'Women Power Equality - Selected speeches from a life of leadership' and will serve as a soft launch of Māia NZ Women's Network Asia, a NZ Chamber-led initiative to connect and strengthen the network of NZ women in business across Asia and back to New Zealand.
Join us for this very special session with one of New Zealand's most respected and influential leaders. Members of NZ Chamber Singapore and regional Chambers under the ASEAN Business Alliance* will have access to Early Bird tickets and priority seating. Public tickets will go on sale Thursday 8 November.
*NZ ABA member countries include Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, and the ASEAN-NZ Business Circle. Please direct your ticket inquiries to your respective Chambers' Executive Director to secure earlybird tickets at NZ Chamber member prices.
